You don't really have to worry about the date...just choose Tokyo for the starting point and then whatever station you would want to check out. Most places have one main station.
We have been saving and planning this Japan trip for a few years now. Paul and I think that Christmas 2010 will be the new trip schedule. I will try to write down everything until we get to that point like researching places to go, learning a new Japanese word every day, etc. And when we finally get there, I'll write about the trip and post pictures!
